This East Sooke Elopement is a demonstration of how you can have a budget friendly “destination” elopement. Coming from Vancouver, Sona and Martin chose to rent an airbnb out in East Sooke on Vancouver Island to spend the weekend with their two closest friends and get hitched.
My time with them was short, but so so sweet. They opted for an evening ceremony, so they could get some of that golden light shining through the trees for their photos. I met them just as Sona was getting her dress on, and the couple had a quick first look just outside the cabin.
When the officiant arrived, they went over some of the logistics, and then we proceeded with the ceremony with the blue ocean as the backdrop. They said their “I do’s,” signed the papers, and it was official!
We then spent a good chunk of time playing around on the beach and taking portraits. Sona and Martin are such an easy-going, fun couple, which made for the most stress free and fun portrait session. They were up for almost anything!
We paused their portraits for a chance for their friends to get some photos in as well, followed by a few group shots. We finished off the evening with a little champagne toast, as well as a gift and letter exchange from friend to friend.
This east sooke elopement is the perfect way to combine your wedding with a small vacation, and to escape from the business of the city while not going too far. While Sona and Martin chose to keep it simple, you can add onto your itinerary with the various trails and outdoor spots in this small town.
