This wasn’t your typical proposal—Ronce and Jessica’s story is a testament to love, timing, and second chances.
The Story Behind the Hatley Castle Proposal
Ronce and Jessica were visiting Victoria from the States over Christmas, staying with Jessica’s family. While the trip was initially about reconnecting with loved ones, Ronce had a heartfelt plan: to re-propose to Jessica.
The couple had tied the knot back in March, their wedding timeline dictated by the intricacies of U.S. visa processes. Unfortunately, their beloved dog, Ringo, couldn’t attend the ceremony, leaving Jessica feeling like a piece of their family was missing. So, Ronce saw this trip as the perfect opportunity to create a new, unforgettable memory—this time, with Ringo by their side.
Planning the Perfect Proposal
Disguising the re-proposal as a family photo session was key to keeping Jessica in the dark. Ronce and I brainstormed several ideas to ensure the moment would feel natural yet unforgettable.
We began with family portraits on the breathtaking grounds of Hatley Castle, seamlessly transitioning into couple portraits of Ronce and Jessica. From there, I suggested solo shots to set up the big moment. Jessica was positioned facing away from me, with the castle as a magnificent backdrop.
On cue, I counted down from three, asking her to turn back for an over-the-shoulder pose. As she turned, there was Ronce on one knee, holding the most exquisite square-cut emerald ring I’ve ever seen. Her reaction was priceless—pure joy and surprise, even though they were already married!
