Sunset Maternity Session in Richmond, BC

Shooting with Sabrina and Tom is always such a pleasure. I first met them when I moved to Vancouver and offered free couple shoots to people in the city. Sabrina and Tom were one of those couples, and we had so much fun together during that shoot. So when they reached out to me for their maternity session in Richmond, I knew it was going to be an absolute blast.

Sabrina and Tom are expecting their first baby, and they were excited to announce the big news to the world. They wanted to capture a few quick maternity photos in a location near their home—a spot where they often walk together at sunset. We quickly planned the session and chose a day that we hoped would have great weather.

Being January in the Pacific Northwest, I was a little concerned about the rain, which is always a possibility. But I kept a close eye on the forecast leading up to the shoot and let Sabrina and Tom know my reschedule and cancellation policy just in case. I also always bring clear umbrellas as a backup plan, just in case the weather decides to throw us a curveball. As the day approached, it seemed like the sun would shine, so we decided to go ahead with the shoot.

The Maternity Session

We met in a parking area and then made our way to a more private location. I know that being surrounded by people during a photoshoot can sometimes feel a little awkward, so we opted for a spot with fewer distractions. It was a bit muddy, and we ended up with some wet socks along the way, but it was totally worth it. The sun came out just in time for some gorgeous golden hour shots, and we had the most magical lighting for the session.

We did a few outfit changes, and despite the shoot being quick, we managed to capture some super adorable photos of Sabrina and Tom. I’m so excited to have had the chance to photograph this beautiful next step in their journey, and I can’t wait to see them become parents.
