This French Beach elopement was the epitome of a laid back, authentic wedding. Just over an hour from downtown Victoria, French Beach is the perfect place to have a nature inspired camping elopement. The combination of forest and beach provide a variety of scenery for your photos. Not to mention the gorgeous PNW backdrop you’ll have while saying your vows.
Despite the expected summer weather, Jeff and Julie’s wedding day started with heavy rain. The journey from Victoria was a wet one, and the campsite was chaotic upon arrival, as plans had to quickly change due to the weather. Originally set for an outdoor July ceremony, they had to move everything under the picnic shelter. Despite the rain, everyone pitched in to help decorate.
Since they were running behind schedule, we took the opportunity to capture some getting-ready shots with Julie at their Airbnb. A friend helped with her hair and makeup, while I looked for a good spot to hang her dress. When we returned to the ceremony spot, there was a round of cheers as Julie emerged from the car in her dress.
The couple said their vows during the beautiful, happy ceremony. Instead of exchanging rings, Jeff and Julie opted for a ribbon ceremony, which brought tears and cheers from everyone present.
After taking some family photos, we hurried down to the beach for portraits. Luckily, the rain stopped, and we were able to stay dry. We braved the cold to capture some great shots before finishing with a champagne toast in front of their glamping tent.
Jeff and Julie’s French Beach elopement is one I won’t forget anytime soon!
