Let’s be honest: we live in BC, and rainy day photoshoots are a high possibility 8 out of 12 months of the year. If you have a photoshoot during any of those 8 months there’s a pretty good chance that it will be raining on the day of your shoot.
Rainy day photoshoots are nothing to be afraid of!!! They actually might be more fun than your golden hour shoot (which is saying a lot). If you’re not already convinced that you should do a rainy day photoshoot, let me give you a few reasons of why you shouldn’t reschedule when the forecast calls for rain.
You don’t have to deal with the hassle of rescheduling a bunch of times! The last few months I’ve had to reschedule so many shoots because of rain, but it doesn’t have to always be the case! Rescheduling can be time consuming and frustrating for everyone.
You get to splash in puddles and reconnect with your inner child. It will be good for your soul!!
It’s a great reason to get a nice warm drink after your shoot (or perhaps even during!).
You’ll get a different, potentially more romantic vibe for your shoot. Chances are you’ll get some creative shots in your gallery (like reflection or umbrella shots) as well.
If you’re headed to a popular location, there will be way less people there. Meaning less nerves and more space to get the shots you want/shots you wouldn’t be able to get if it’s busy.
Little known fact: overcast weather is the perfect time to take photos. When the sun’s out, it can cast shadows all over your face and provide really dramatic lighting. Not ideal.
So before you go to reschedule your shoot because it might rain, think again and get creative with it!!
