Some photo sessions remind you why you fell in love with photography in the first place, and my recent engagement shoot at Lighthouse Park with Kat and Emmett was definitely one of those. From the very beginning, it was clear that this wasn’t just about taking beautiful photos; it was about connecting and creating memories together.
Like many couples, Kat and Emmett were a bit nervous leading up to the shoot. They admitted they usually feel stiff in front of a camera and were expecting the Pacific Northwest’s November rain to make things a bit challenging. But I reassured them every step of the way, sharing my favourite tips to ease their nerves and preparing for rain with umbrellas and blankets—only to arrive to a forecast that miraculously cleared for our shoot. It was overcast, giving us perfect, even lighting with no rain in sight. It felt like it was truly meant to be.
We chose to have this engagement shoot at Lighthouse Park for its breathtaking trails and peaceful atmosphere. It was a busy weekend, but we found a secluded path that let us capture intimate moments without the bustle of onlookers. I guided them through relaxed poses, encouraging them to focus on each other rather than the camera. Soon enough, the laughter started, and they were fully immersed, sharing natural moments of joy.
We chatted and bonded over everything from our shared love of Love Is Blind to travel plans—especially their destination wedding in Barcelona. They’ll be spending time in both Barcelona and Ireland this month, soaking up each moment as they prepare for their big day. After a fun and relaxed session, we wrapped up at a charming bistro with some cozy lunch, sharing delicious bites and laughter together.
Capturing Kat and Emmett’s story was more than just a photo session; it was a connection and a shared experience that left me grateful to be part of their journey. This session was truly unforgettable, and I can’t wait to capture more memories with couples like them.
