Brittney and Dawid chose Rainbow Resort for their Canim Lake wedding celebration, a place dear to their hearts. This lakeside resort boasts both cabins and RV camping spots, making it an ideal spot for a weekend wedding bash.
We arrived the night before the big day, brimming with excitement for the hours of getting ready photos ahead. Stepping into the midst of hair and makeup preparations, we were warmly greeted by Britt, Dawid, and their loved ones.
Despite being more intimate than your typical wedding, there was a distinct vibe of elopement surrounding the event (read the difference here). Everything felt wonderfully relaxed, and Brittney and Dawid were among the most laid-back couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with.
During the pre-ceremony preparations, I divided my time between capturing moments with the bride and the groom. True to form, the groom and his groomsmen were ready in a flash, opting to spend their downtime aboard a boat, capturing some truly unique photos (and perhaps indulging in a few pre-ceremony beers).
Returning to shore, we caught the final moments of the girls getting ready. Brittney donned her gown, and shared a special first look with her bridesmaids.
The ceremony itself was a joyous affair, filled with laughter and stories of how Brittney and Dawid first crossed paths and instantly knew they were meant to be together (even if they wouldn’t reconnect for another year). Sealed with a kiss, they danced down the aisle and made a beeline for the caesar bar to celebrate.
Following the ceremony, we wrangled the family for formal photos (an endeavor aptly described by Brittany as “like herding cats”). Then, we moved on to bridal party shots and intimate couple portraits. We even had a bit of an adventure driving around in a golf cart, hanging onto the back, camera in hand.
After a bit of downtime, it was time for the reception. It kicked off with a bang as the entire bridal party found themselves on the receiving end of a prank by the bride and groom. The energy remained high throughout the speeches, with plenty of laughter, touching stories, and, of course, a few tears.
As the night wound down, the festivities continued with games, first dances, and a delicious s’mores bar for dessert. We managed to steal away for some twilight portraits following an epic dress change by Brittney. Though we departed as the dancing began, I have no doubt that the celebration carried on well into the night.
