This Saxe Point engagement shoot is absolutely stunning and reason enough to book your photoshoot at golden hour. Don’t get me wrong – you can still have a fun, dreamy shoot on a cloudy or rainy day, but there’s something about that golden sun that’s truly unmatched.
Saxe Point is a beautiful location in Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island. It has every type of scenery – complete with a beach, forest area, ocean, rocks, and long grass (depending on time of year). There’s nothing that Saxe Point doesn’t offer. It’s one of my top suggestions for a Victoria photoshoot!
Emily and Dave arrived at their Saxe Point engagement shoot looking sharp. With their two beautiful mini Aussie shepherds in tow, we began shooting. The dogs, who could barely stay calm because they were so excited about the nearby water (they love swimming), posed so well.
After hearing their dogs cry for some water playtime, we decided to put them in the car for the rest of the shoot (don’t worry, we cracked the windows!). From there, we wandered through the park, taking photos along the way. We climbed over rocks, goofed around, and captured some gorgeous photos.
During the shoot, multiple other dogs came up to us, eager to say hello (Dave is a dog whisperer). We shared laughs, chatted about their wedding next year, and couldn’t resist going “awww” at every dog we passed.
If you’ve been to Saxe Point before, you know there’s a forested path near the beach. We ended up there toward the end of the shoot, just as the sun dipped below the horizon. After taking a few final shots, we started making our way back to the parking lot.
As we exit the forest, the most insanely gorgeous sunset greets us. Pink and purple hues paint the sky, reflecting off the ocean to create a beautiful sight.Of course, we had to snap a few more photos before calling it a day, and I’m so glad we did.
Emily and Dave, you were an absolute joy to work with, and I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next year. Thank you!
