This Whytecliff Park elopement is just proof that nature is the best backdrop. Ivet and Stan chose to tie the knot outdoors, veering away from the traditional church wedding of their home country.
I met the couple nearly three years ago, when they were guests at their close friends elopement I was photographing (check it out here). We had such an amazing time that evening, I was pleasantly surprised when Ivet reached out to me during their planning process about photos.
The couple rented an Airbnb where they got ready and later hosted their dinner and reception. I met them and their families at the Airbnb in the afternoon, where they were enjoying some delicious-looking charcuterie and sweets. The couple got ready, but not before we took a few detail shots.
Before long, we headed to Whytecliff Park for their ceremony and portraits. We waited patiently for the bride to arrive, taking in the gorgeous ocean views. The couple wanted to walk down the aisle together, so Ivet’s father passed her off to Stan halfway through.
The ceremony was short and included a handfasting ritual and an exchange of rings. After the first kiss, they spent some time hugging their family before signing the papers. We quickly took family photos and sent the guests back to the Airbnb while we stayed for portraits.
These two were absolute troopers during their photos. They eagerly climbed rocks, ventured up cliffs (even in heels), and did anything I asked of them. I gave the couple a moment alone to take it all in while I captured some ring shots. We ended the portrait session with the first dance they planned for later that evening.
We returned to the Airbnb to find a beautifully set table and dinner being prepared by Emelle’s Catering. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, and we finished the night with an adorable cake cutting.
