There are some weddings that stay with you – and Ben and Steph’s Shaughnessy Restaurant wedding was one of those days that felt just as meaningful as it was beautiful.
The day began with their portraits at Queen Elizabeth Park, where they chose to share a quiet first look tucked into the gardens. It was one of those moments that felt completely untouched – just the two of them, taking it all in before the celebration began. As a Vancouver wedding photographer, these are the moments I live for. Honest, emotional, and deeply personal.
Later, their Shaughnessy Restaurant wedding ceremony and reception in Van Dusen Gardens brought everything together in the most effortless way. The space is filled with soft, natural light pouring through expansive glass windows, creating the kind of atmosphere that feels both elevated and inviting. It was the perfect setting for a night that unfolded with so much warmth and connection.
Steph’s Italian family brought an energy that was impossible to miss – in the best way. Love wasn’t quiet; it was expressed openly, loudly, and beautifully. Hugs lingered, laughter filled the room, and every interaction felt genuine and full of heart. It created a space where everyone felt part of something truly special.
Their private vows were one of the most emotional moments of the day. As a candid wedding photographer who has witnessed so many love stories, it takes a lot to feel overwhelmed – but this was one of those rare times. Their words, their emotion, the way they held each other – it was incredibly moving.
And then there was the dance floor. Electric from the very first song, it quickly became one of the most unforgettable celebrations I’ve ever documented. The kind of energy you can’t plan – only feel.
Ben and Steph’s wedding was a perfect reflection of what matters most: connection, emotion, and a love that feels timeless and true-to-life.
