This backyard wedding in Mission was originally supposed to be a large 100 person wedding, but Megan and Rob chose to pivot and have an intimate 20 person backyard wedding instead.
During the planning process, halfway through, the couple informed me of their decision to ditch their big wedding plans. They sought a more relaxed, simple, and personal day rather than following tradition. We met at a local park in Mission near the couple’s parents’ home.
The groom and his groomsmen began putting on their boutonnieres. Once the bride and her bridesmaids arrived at the park, we prepared for a first look. The wedding party enjoyed their time together, goofing around as we captured photos.
After snapping a few couples portraits, we headed over to the house for the ceremony. The couple personalized the ceremony, incorporating references to their love of video games and including a hand fasting ceremony.
Following the ceremony, we moved into family photos, leading into a super relaxed reception. Rob’s parents prepared a delicious meal for everyone to enjoy, and the evening concluded with a few quick speeches and a cake cutting.
This small backyard wedding in Mission is a prime example of how it’s possible to ditch the big wedding for a smaller, more personal event.
